Planning will be one of the most important skills you will develop as a business owner and involves logical analysis of the situation. Planning for the success of your business involves creating plans that you update and change as your business needs change. There are 5 steps in planning by logical analysis and they are as follows:
  1. Identify the problem (sometimes what you think is the problem is actually a symptom, so consider this thoroughly)
  2. Consider the factors (WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE and HOW)
  3. Develop solutions (input from others may help provide different solutions)
  4. Make a decision; and
  5. Prepare your plan. Ensure your plan answers the questions WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and HOW.
You must keep in mind that business planning is on-going and continuous. Both the end result and the planning process are important in ensuring that your business thrives.
