The Small Business Mentoring Project was delivered by Community Futures Development Corporation 16/37 of Terrace, BC. The pilot project which ended March 2010, tested the mentoring delivery methodology of business management skills development for small business owners in rural BC.
You provide 37% of the total value of goods exported
You create and maintain 56% of private sector employment
You make up 98% of all businesses
YOU are small business in British Columbia!
Businesses in rural BC and Canada have less access to resources than their urban counterparts and this can contribute to a sense of isolation. Like many entrepreneurs, you may be short on available time to invest in professional development. Don't think you have to tough it out or go it alone! Mentoring is a great way to get what you need from people who have "been there, done that", and want to work with you.
If you think you have the knowledge and skills and want to help others, providing your expertise and experience to others through mentorship helps to build relationships, strengthen the business community, and can be a very rewarding experience for all concerned.
This site provides practical mentoring tools and extensive resource information that can help small business owners implement a business skills development action plan.
